What is a Dental Veneer?

Veneers are very thin, custom-made pieces of durable porcelain that are created to match the shape and colour of your teeth by a dental laboratory.

At Fort Malden Dentistry, our dentists utilize dental veneers to help create a more uniform smile for our patients.

Your dentist will bond the restoration to the front of your natural tooth to alter the symmetry, shape or colour of your smile.

What Are Lumineers®?

At Fort Malden Dentistry, we offer Lumineers to our patients. Lumineers are thin veneers that allow us the opportunity to alter the appearance of your teeth with the minimal removal of your natural tooth and enamel.

How Veneers Work

Dental veneers are applied over the course of two appointments.

During the first visit, we will apply a local anaesthetic and remove a thin layer of enamel from the front of your tooth. Your dentist will take an impression of your teeth that will be used to create your custom veneers. We will then apply your temporary veneers which will stay in place until your next appointment.

Once your veneers have been created, you will attend your second visit where they will be bonded to the fronts of your natural teeth to alter your smile's overall appearance.

Features of Veneers

If you are hoping to alter the shape of individual teeth or the evenness of your whole smile, you may want to consider dental veneers as a less-intrusive alternative to other services such as dental crowns.

Conditions that dental veneers can resolve include worn, crooked, or discoloured teeth. They can also reduce unwanted spacing and change the size of your teeth while maintaining a natural look and feel.

With a proper at-home oral hygiene routine and regular professional dental care, your new veneers should last for many years.
